The basic of PowerPoint will be covered with hands on demonstration in class. Many of PowerPoint’s features are described in my MS office tutorial.

Many of PowerPoint’s buttons are the same as Word. The following describes the buttons that are unique to PowerPoint. These buttons are located at the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

The names are listed in order from Left to Right:
Normal View
Outline View
Slide View
Slide Sorter View
Slide Show
Click on all of these buttons to see how the screen changes view.

This should be the first thing you do before you begin your project. Create the exact number of slides that your presentation will use.
Instructions for creating the shell
Click on the Slide Sorter View to see the number of slides in your presentation. By default you will have one.
It will look like this:
Click the slide and a box will appear outlining the slide…right click slide…click copy…right click outside of slide… click paste. Do this as many times as it takes to finish your shell.

PowerPoint enables the user to add animation to text, word art, and pictures. This adds a little flare to your presentation.
This is what the right click screen for animation looks

Instructions
Right click the object you want to add animation too… choose custom animation…click upside triangle next to “no effect” box…choose effect…choose location of effect… click ok.
PowerPoint enables the user to change the background colors and design. Backgrounds can be chosen from “more colors” or “Fill effects”.
This is what the background window looks like:
Right click on the slide in Normal View…choose background…click upside-down triangle…choose “More Colors” or “Fill Effects”… Choose color or design…Click OK…Click apply. (Never click APPLY TO ALL unless told to do so by your teacher).
